Julie-Anne McCarthy, PhD (c) 

she/her/hers

Julie-Anne (she/her) is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Community Health Sciences and a member of the CARe team since 2021. She has an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba, Canada (2009) and a Master of Science in Community Psychology from Sacred Heart University, Connecticut, USA (2013). Julie-Anne’s professional and academic experience has focused on mental health research and practice. Previous employment includes Program Specialist in Mental Health Promotion with the Winnipeg Regional Healthy Authority; Provincial Program Coordinator with Healthy Child Manitoba; Sessional Instructor with the Université de Saint Boniface; Guest lecturer with the University of Manitoba, Research Coordinator with the University of Manitoba; Crisis Worker with the Mental Health Crisis Response Center and Mobile Crisis unit; and various work and volunteering with the Franco-Manitoban community.

Research

Julie-Anne’s research interests include mental health promotion, mental illness prevention and intervention, child and youth mental health, adverse childhood experiences, population-based research, psychiatric epidemiology, and Francophone minority well-being in Manitoba and Canada.
