Julie-Anne McCarthy, MSc

Julie-Anne is a PhD student in the Department of Community Health Sciences and a member of the CARe team since 2021. She has an Honours Degree in Psychology from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Science in Community Psychology from Sacred Heart University (Connecticut, USA). Julie-Anne’s work experience is focused on research and practice in mental health. Previous employment includes Program Specialist in Mental Health Promotion with the Winnipeg Regional Healthy Authority; Provincial Program Coordinator with Healthy Child Manitoba; Sessional Instructor with the Université de Saint Boniface; Research Coordinator with the University of Manitoba; Crisis Worker with the Mental Health Crisis Response Center and Mobile Crisis unit; and various work with the Franco-Manitoban community.

Research

Her research interests include population health, mental health promotion, mental illness prevention and intervention, child and youth mental health, Francophone minority well-being in Manitoba and Canada, psychology of sustainability.
